BOOOKMARKS: SET 20

hamburger-earmuffs_o_60063-Can’t imagine very many applications for the new “Seaboard” in my circles, but it’s still pretty dang cool.

Little windy.

-When life gives you hamburger earmuffs, make the most of it.

-Trailer for the new Planet of the Apes movie. Gary Oldman? I’m in.

-And…..best commercial I’ve ever seen.

godzilla1954c-I’m excited to see what Gareth Edwards does with Godzilla. The trailer is awesome – great color composition and tone and manages not to tell us what happens in the movie!

-I’m sorry, but those iPad stands worship leaders use REALLY get on my nerves.

-My friend, Spence, is one of the most talented musicians I’ve ever met. The past few years, he’s performed “Carol Of The Bells” at his church. Here’s this year’s version.

-I’m so torn about this video. I love how closely they nailed the style and attitude of these musical pieces, but it sure seems like they’re mocking a lot of great, God-honoring music. (Watching this made me realize that worship songs used to be better….)

-If Buzz (from Home Alone) had an Instagram.

-Somebody is pretty clever. ‘Cause every parent does this at some point.

“I think that’s a responsibility that I have, to push possibilities, to show people, this is the level that things could be at. So when you get something that has the name Kanye West on it, it’s supposed to be pushing the furthest possibilities. I will be the leader of a company that ends up being worth billions of dollars, because I got the answers. I understand culture. I am the nucleus.”
Kanye West (June 16, New York Times)

341024039_3bbcb1b9ef-Proof that you don’t always have to have good gear to be a good musician.

Base jumper has a bad fall. And records it all on his Go-Pro.

-Just finished the Mick Foley documentary, For All Mankind. It was great – Foley seems like a great guy.

-I was transfixed by this footage of guitar SWIRLING.

-Hey, kids. Maybe all that video gaming will pay off someday and help you land a job!

-I never knew I could like a 19 second video so much.

-Here’s an old sound check video of Stevie Ray Vaughn. The story is that SRV had just woken up and walked onto stage. Pretty good for a guy still half-asleep.

Tin_foil_hat_2MIND BLOWN.

-Hey look. Amazon’s building drones. Great.

-Maybe I’m just hopped up on cold medicine, but Kyle Kinane’s salsa controversy made me very happy.

-Although I’m a conservative guy, I don’t tend to go in for too much sky-is-falling. But a guy who so quickly and cleverly cuts to the heart of media hypocrisy deserves to be linked. (Slight language warning.)

-Ever wish that VEGAN/HIPPIE/BROS were a real thing? Yeah, me too.

-Oh, look. A long blog post about Batman logo design. I guess I’ll take a look…

BOOKMARKS: SET 17

act_of_killing_031-Been fascinated of late by the new documentary, Act Of Killing. There are tons of blog posts about the premise, but here’s the director giving the background. Sounds like a bold, but depressing, film.

-The Steven Furtick controversy was here and gone (like most of us expected,) but I think this article highlights on some of the more nuanced issues involving transparency among Christian leaders.

-I promise I’m not harping on megachurches (at least, intentionally,) but this may be a thing.

-I’m impressed by what Joel Klampert and Ember Church did for Thanksgiving outreach.

-How observant are you? Colgate thinks NOT SO MUCH.

-Finally finished Double Cross. It was a slow read, but I’m glad I did it. Impressed with how much research went into the book. (It could easily be an espionage film if you focused on one or two of the principal  players instead of the whole “team.”

-RELATED: Now that I’m done with that, I’ve got two “church” books to read. One for our staff reading list and one for myself. Have a feeling they’re going to move a bit slower than the spy book.

-I may hijack a few upcoming Bookmark posts for just plain ol’ blogging. Or maybe something more…

Screen shot 2013-11-26 at 9.43.33 PM-I love viral marketing. The new X-Men ad campaign is too cool.

-I’m nowhere near nerd status when it comes to comics, but I did think this was amazing.

-I like Bill Gates, for lots of reasons. Here he is, jumping over a chair. (Little bit o’ language.)

-Wow. This is some deep thinking about juice cleanses. Love this site and its perspectives.

-I normally dislike those “dance cam” videos from sporting events (because they’re fake,) but this one seems legit. This kid…this happy little kid. I wanna’ live my life like this!

10 graphic design terms everyone should know (apparently.) How many did you know already?

th-The history of Disney’s Discovery Island is pretty nuts. Hit the wiki page first, then head over to the pictures taken by Shane Perez in the mid-2000’s.

-Hey, Hollywood. You don’t mess with perfection.

-Decided to give tapiture a try. I know almost nothing about Pinterest, but it seems like the same concept.

-I’m fascinated by conspiracy theories. So, naturally I’m freaking out on this one.

-Look at that. After twenty years, Steve Taylor is still more witty and sarcastic than ever. May have to kick a few bucks into this one.

-Listening to music through coat hangers. The audio “shootout” taken to it’s logical (and illogical) end.
